Building a bigger knight: Part 4

Finally some plastic tubes arrived to finish off the legs. With pistons and supports they look much less spindly.

Made a start on the leg armour plates. Getting them to stay curved is much harder than I thought. Having some success with laminating two curved sheets together.

What's a knight titan without a gun? With it's hands full I made a shoulder mount.

It's a pretty solid mount given the small contact area.

Building a bigger knight: Part 2

Currently too spindly but, foot to waist, it is already taller than a normal knight.
... I really need help.

I am running out of plastic tubing and since I moved I no longer have a hobby shop around that sells them at any sensible price.

This is how wars get started you know.

Back to the drawing board for now.

Building a bigger knight

So, the Imperial Knight kit is a pretty big model. I guess it's fine.

But when has that ever been an excuse not to build something dumb?

With the waist extension and moving the head up to the top it is already almost as tall as a normal knight.
This is an excellent start.

Have a good day.

Two birds - one high velocity armor piercing round

A long time ago I made some, in my opinion, damn fine waywatchers using the high elf shadow Warriors kit.

Turns out I have a few of the bodies I made for that project left over.

Rather than make something practical with them, I was a built this xenos sniper lady.

Good job, Bel.

Rogal Dorn

I accidentally picked this up on eBay the other day
What to build from a primarch? Well another primarch obviously.

Since Imperial Fists are currently my go to chapter tactics, Rogal Dorn seems like a good choice.

At the time of the Horus Heresy Dorn rocks up with a bolter and a chainsword. Making vanilla look good I suppose.

I didn't take pics at every step due to a combination of being too lazy to get my camera but also not being lazy enough to stop working on it.

The arms are cobbled together from an assortment of oversized parts from stormcast eternals sets. Their arms and weapons are actually too big even for space marines so they fit well enough.

I sculpted a couple of passable aquillas, though I fear the one on his chestplate is more recognisable at a distance than the leg.

Dryfitting the shoulders (Again more stormcast eternals bits) the fist icons are all press moulded from a forgeworld shield of some kind. You cal also see the gorget bit better here. It was carved off a spare betrayal at calth terminator torso and helps cover up some of the cog iconography from the top of the torso.

Filled up some gaps and affixed the shoulders proper here. More aquilas, purity seals and scrolls. JUST ADD MORE THINGS.

A regular boltgun was just not fancy enough so I built a bigger one out of yet more stormcast eternals weapons with a scope and barrel thrown in for good measure.

Finally has his hands attached. The giant chainsword is an eviscerator from the assault marines box.

Turns out I forgot to add that backpack aquilla. (Yeah I know, just not enough aquillas without it right?) OOPS.

This is as far as I got with painting him before I fell back on space wolves.

I just could not be bothered to paint yellow. So I guess he's going back to eBay.

Burning down the heretics

Word Bearer's are doing well as my current favourite legion. (we'll see how long this one lasts)

While the glue on a big pile of tactical legionaries finishes drying I decided to try my hand to some of the Ashen Circle.

To those out of the know, the Ashen Circle are a Word Bearers specific formation who's job is to murder your culture. They are not nice people have have reasonable interesting rules.
What they don't have is nice models.

So I made some of my own out of spare scraps lying around.

They're okay. Still need to decide on a power weapons colour and a basing scheme. Then we can get back to spreading the primordial truth of Chaos to the unknowing galaxy.

I like a challenge but...

This time I might have bitten off more than I can chew.
I accidentally started Necrons.

Yes that is most of a necron pylon. The massive death platform.
And yes it has been hacked into bits.

I am going to turn this pile of parts back into an acceptable pylon.

You might wonder why someone would cut up a pylon in the first place. Well the person I bought the parts from nicely answered that question by including this impressive converted flyer.

Looks like a good night shroud bomber to me.

Ghost Rider

My "local" GW is having it's 20th birthday this weekend. They are celebrating (No, not by playing classic games like Blood Bowl and Necromunda) with a series of mini games. One of which is a race based on bastardised Formula D rules.

To enter one needs a racer.

So I made one....

A hut in the heart of the swamp...

With my dark/wood/high elves (or Aelfs or whatever) getting steadily more and more swampy
I decided to just go whole hog and make them Swamp elves.
Yeah it has probably been done before but fuck it, not by me.

When I start a new project I like to throw the idea at my non-wargaming friends to see what they come up with. One of them game me
"I don't know some sort of treehouse?"
This garbled panicy response triggered something in my brain.

Some kind of Baba Yaga swamp hut. Yes I can almost see it now...

My highly detailed planning stages for new projects are the very stuff of legend.

From humble beginnings (the middle of a roll of selotape) the project is born.
I coated the outside in milliput and scratched vague wood surface patterns into it.
Huzzah!

Once cured I added a door and a couple of windows.
Now it is starting to look like it is supposed to be some kind of dwelling.

More on the way.

Finding Ways

Wayfinders continue to be quite good in Age of Sigmar. However the models are not. I am going to fix this using the nice High Elf Shadow Warrior models and a bit of elbow grease*

Firstly I had to cut down the armour. No more scale mail and pauldrons.

Then I forget to take pictures of the next few steps.

Greenstuff hoods (over spare daemonette heads but shhhh) and a fur shoulder trim gives me a decent enough Waywatcher.

Paint brings it together and makes the greenstuff less painfully obvious.

9 more waiting for greenstuff to cure ready for painting.
* Elbow grease now OOP.

My other car is a Mammoth

Forgeworld have released the scrolls for their Tamurkan book. This seemed like a good time to start working on the mammoth howdah.

I have decided to go for elves. Warriors of Chaos would have been easier as it wouldn't need so many curved sides. The model will be the throne of a particularly ostentatious Dreadlord.

The deck level needs to house bodyguards, crossbow troops, maybe a bolt thrower, some treasure, a sweet throne and some concubines.

On the advice of one of my many mortal foes it was suggested I add a second floor to make it more opulent and give me more space to work.

Not sure how to attach them yet.

Herald of the Flylord: Finished

Glued to one of my lava bases.

And so the first member of my terrible Chaos horde is ready to spread some ruination.

Now he needs some backup.

Now with lava!

A new Chaos army for Age of Sigmar is a good excuse to design a new set of bases.
I started with a thin layer of milliput and scratched a few vaguely rock like lines into the top.

When cured and painted they look a bit less crappy.

Something new... er... For Chaos

Sometimes (almost always) I'll think of something, build it and then realise  it needs to count as something.

This was one of those times.

I had an ogre torso and a big skull. What else was I going to do?
Throw on some dragon ogre hooked blades and we get.

Yeah it's a silly pose but it sorta works better in person.

Herald of the Flylord: Part 2

After a little work getting just the right rust effect, and painting the shoulder pelt, he is almost finished.

I removed him for the base while I work on it.

Herald of the Flylord

This whole Age of Sigmar business has me inspired and the Hordes of Chaos have welcomed me back with open arms/claws/tentacles (after having just sold off my WoC troops :c).

Some blightking bits I found in my, now self-sustaining, bitsbox formed the basis of this Nurgle Herald.

I ended up trapped in my studio by a freak rainstorm so I managed to make a little progress on this adorable guy.

He has been dubbed a "Maggot king".

Calculating...

My little faceless Magos is coming along nicely.

He's still not as tall as the actual Dominus model though.
